Discover Poipu Beach
Lifeguarded beach
This beach is lifeguarded and there is a very shallow pool that is perfect for young children and those who are not strong swimmers. Poipu beach park has bathrooms, pavilions with picnic tables, showers, and even a playground making this one of the best spots to bring the family to! Poipu beach has been named one of America’s Best Beaches and it’s definitely for a reason. There are often monk seals and the occasional turtle sighting here as well. Bring your camera for these awesome picture moments but be sure to leave the designated legal space between you and the wildlife!
The south side of Kaua’i is often drier and sunnier than the North and East side so you’re likely to get a nice beach day here! There are two sections of this beach, the first being the protected portion with shallow waters and easy lounging. The second section is called “Waiohai” by locals and it’s got some of the best snorkeling Kauai’s south shore has to offer along with a ton of room to swim around. There is a surf spot here that experienced surfers enjoy but it is advised to only surf here if you’re well experienced and have strong swimming abilities.
There are eateries, shops, and equipment rentals nearby, making this one of the most convenient and family-friendly beaches on Kauai!
Following along Poipu Road you will need to turn down Hoowili Road. At the end of this little road, you’ll see a three-way stop that can turn onto Hoone Road. Here there are multiple parking lots to choose from and across the street, you will find the beach park!
